By using eteachers.lk you agree to these terms
1. About these terms
These terms form an agreement between you and eteachers ("we", "us", "the platform")
covering your use of eteachers.lk. By creating an account or using the site you accept
them. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
2. Who can use eteachers
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Where a younger student is involved, a parent or guardian must create and manage the account.
- If you register on behalf of a nursery, institute or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password confidential. Tell us
promptly if you believe someone else has gained access. Do not share your account or let
another person list classes under your name.
You may sign in using Google instead of a password. What Google shares with us is
explained in our Privacy Policy.
4. What eteachers is — and is not
eteachers is a directory. We help students discover teachers, nurseries
and course providers. We are not a party to any arrangement you go on to make.
Specifically, we do not:
- Employ teachers or supervise how classes are taught
- Set, collect or hold class fees between students and teachers
- Guarantee the accuracy of qualifications a teacher states on their profile
- Guarantee that any teacher will secure students, or that any student will find a suitable class
Class fees, schedules, venues, cancellations and refunds are agreed directly
between the student and the teacher. We encourage both sides to verify identity and
credentials before committing.
5. Teacher listings and review
- Every class listing is reviewed by our team before it appears publicly. Review is normally completed within one working day.
- We may decline or remove a listing that is inaccurate, misleading, incomplete, duplicated, or that breaches these terms.
- Where we decline a listing we will tell you why, and you may correct and resubmit it.
- Listings run for the period you select. When that period ends the listing stops being shown until it is renewed.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of everything in your listing, including fees, schedule and qualifications.
6. Fees and payment
- Creating an account and building a profile is free. Students use the platform free of charge.
- Publishing a class listing is a paid service. The price depends on the listing duration and any promotional placement you choose.
- The exact amount is always shown to you before you confirm. Nothing is charged at signup.
- Optional promoted placements, such as featured or top positions, are charged separately at the rates shown at the time of booking.
- Where payment is made by bank transfer, you upload the receipt and our team verifies it. Your listing is published once payment is confirmed.
- Prices may change, but a change never affects a listing you have already paid for.
- You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your own teaching income.
7. Refunds
- If we decline your listing and it was never published, you are entitled to a full refund of the listing fee.
- If we remove a paid listing part-way through its period for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused portion.
- Once a listing has been published for its agreed period, the fee is generally not refundable.
- If a listing was removed because of a breach of these terms, no refund is due.
- To request a refund, contact us with your invoice number.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading or exaggerated information, including qualifications you do not hold
- Impersonate another person or organisation
- Post unlawful, offensive, discriminatory or harassing content
- Use the platform to advertise anything unrelated to education
- Collect other users' contact details for bulk marketing, or scrape the site automatically
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or another account
- Upload malicious code, or interfere with the operation of the site
- Create listings intended solely to occupy promotional placement
9. Content and ownership
You keep ownership of everything you upload — your profile text, photos and listings. By
posting it you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and promote that content on the
platform and in material advertising the platform, for as long as your content remains on
the site.
You confirm you have the right to use anything you upload, including photographs. The
eteachers name, logo and the design of the site remain our property and may not be copied
without permission.
10. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches
these terms, is used fraudulently, or creates a risk to other users. Where circumstances
allow, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided on an "as is" basis. We work to keep it accurate and available,
but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that every listing is free of error.
Because we are a directory and not a party to teaching arrangements, we are not liable for
the conduct, quality, safety or legality of any class, teacher, nursery, institute or
student you encounter through the platform. Any dispute about a class is between the
student and the teacher.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim connected with the
platform is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim
arose.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we will
notify you of significant changes. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you
accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have
jurisdiction over any dispute.
